The Second Planting

We had an excellent turnout one fall day on November 16th for the second planting of the site, the first having been in the spring. The weather in the weeks since the tree planting had been warm so the crew did some more weeding of the site before we set about sowing the seeds for the extended garden.

This time we sowed milkweed between the serviceberry trees to hopefully attract monarch butterflies, and wild lupines in front of the milkweed, just because they are pretty. Then the larger part of the cleared site was sown with a mixture of many varieties of flowers. This time we hope they are less densely sown.
